We are told that the EU is of benefit to us all - although what that benefit is I'd like to know. Tony Blair, once part of a party that was anti-Europe, is now pro-Europe. Neil Kinnock and more of him anon was virulently opposed to Europe. David Cameron had instructed his shadow cabinet not to discuss Europe on pain of sacking.
If the EU is so good, should we not send our brightest and best to work for it, our most brilliant minds, our most innovative thinkers? Who do we send? A man who lead the Labour party to two general election defeats; another who couldn't even get re-elected by his own constituents and a third who was twice sacked from the Cabinet and was lucky not to get his collar felt by the fraud squad.
It's treated as a second, very well-paid home for failed politicians. It's contemptible and the sooner we leave the better.
