The death of barrister Mark Saunders is a tragedy. It is the first time the police have killed anyone since Jean Charles de Menezes was shot on the Tube in July 2005.
Saunders was shooting at passers-by and exchanged gunfire with the police so the outcome was never in doubt.
One thing puzzles me though. The policemen from CO19 are idenitifiable - from their crash helmets and guns but who are the disturbing figures in the balaclavas in the picture?
