The usual reason given by celebrities for going on reality shows is that they want the public to see the real me. The "real" them is usually the reason why their careers have gone down the pan in the first place. That's by the by.
In the current issue of GQ Gordon Brown, the man who hopes to be the next prime minister, tells interviewer Piers Morgan that "I would like people to know more of me".
Why? Who cares what the real Gordon Brown is like? As long as he runs the country properly, he could be a miserable, dour Scotsman for all we care.
